  • post-apoc RPG survey

This may be of interest to the community.

Malcolm Craig, designer of Cold City and Hot War (among his other contributions to the TTRPG scene), also has some legit academic credentials as a Cold War/nuclear era historian. He's currently working on a research project into the history of post-apoc RPGs in the Cold War era, between 1974 (the emergence of TTRPGs) and 1989. If you were playing (or contributing to!) 1e T2k, Morrow Project, or other games in the genre during that time, please consider taking a few minutes to complete his research survey at:

My name is Malcolm Craig. I am a historian of the Cold War period at Liverpool John Moores University in the UK. I am working on a project examining the intersections between post-apocalyptic tabletop role-playing games, the Cold War, and the nuclear age. It would be extremely useful if you could complete this preparatory questionnaire. This will help in making subsequent, follow-up oral history interviews more focused and more fruitful. The information generated will be used solely for the purposes of research and will not be passed on without prior permission.

It rarely takes more than a page to recognize that you're in the presence of someone who can write, but it only takes a sentence to know you're dealing with someone who can't.
