    I agree. This idea has been proposed on several of the "prepper" sites I have looked at. The idea is plants above the fish pond. It is supposed to work like this.

    Water in pool has the fish.

    Fish excrement/water is pumped up to the plants as fertilizer.

    Plants filter the water.

    Leftover water resupplies the pond.

    Fish are fed from what ever grows.

    It is supposed to be a relatively closed system. Once in place, let nature takes its' course.

    I am NOT an expert in these things. But on the surface (pardon the pun) it seems like it just MIGHT work. Combination of hydroponics with fish farming.

      To me it just seems like a really cool way to reuse an old building! And if you notice the locals are cashing in on it by selling food to feed the fish.
