Has anyone tried playing a game using the roll20 app I'm thinking about doing one, but I'd need a character sheet designed for the app and I'm all thumbs at programming.

Sorry to say but I don't think RollD20 would work given the game mechanics, at least with the fourth edition. I know that using a D20 in previous editions was used for some rolls but the fourth edition uses a lot of percentile rolls for most rolls. As for a character sheet, one can be had for nothing from Timeline.

You can roll any type of die in ROll20 e.g /roll 1d100. Although you will have to work out critical and degrees of success manually. Characters sheets can only be done if the highest paid subscription.
