When you have only a few tanks and no way to make new ones...
Maxwell's Militia has M60's (or M1's in the new edition), but there's no mention of any APCs. Why wouldn't they have infantry units that exist to protect the tank
Part bodyguard, part secret police, part special forces and part emergency services
The "Tank Riders" of Maxwell's Militia are a special corps of troops - an elite unit that protects the Tank Commander and his AFV.
Their most visible duty is to ride on the AFV and (in their own cynical motto) "provide an additional layer of armor". On the battlefield, the Tank Riders may operate as couriers, scouts and intelligence operatives in the service of the Tank Commander.
However, in peacetime, they also engage in espionage, intimidation, arrests and extra-judicial killings. On the plus side, they are all well-trained in Advanced First Aid and are tolerated by the citizens because they provide Paramedic services (in order to keep in practice)
They will disguise themselves as "ordinary citizens" to monitor and arrest anyone who criticizes the Commander. In some cases they may secretly execute those judged to be a threat to the Commander or the Militia.
The first MM units encountered by a Morrow Project team may be Tank Riders. Their equipment will be on a par with the MP
Not sure if this was the best place. But I was thinking is this the sort of thing that Maxwell's Militia would build
Much cheaper, easier to build and maintain than a real M1 Abrahams. But if you need something frightening to keep the peasants in line then it looks close enough to it's scary big brother.
Creating a situation that teams may either be surprised they popped that tank with a LAW.
Then dismayed the enemy has half a dozen of them and they don't seem to run out of fuel.
Also in a future when there are relatively few truly heavy foes wouldn't an M113 make a pretty scary foe
It's got long range, thick enough armour to shrug off anything other than artillery or big well placed mines and bombs. Multiple machine guns and hatches give it great observation, stick an 81mm mortar in the back and it's a mobile artillery piece.
And most armies that have used it have been able to stick an astonishing array of firepower on one. An M113 with a vehicle sized flame thrower would be a dragon of myth and lore to most people in the world of tomorrow.

Maxwell's Militia (3rd edition) operates M60A1 tanks and some heavy guns (unknown type). These are simpler and easier to maintain. The rangefinder is mechanical, a coincidence rangefinder. The V-12 diesel motor is found in large bulldozers and other equipment. Keeping that going is keeping a fair bit of industry going, if only at a very low rate.
How many layers there is between the King and the Peasant in this feudal soiety isn't fleshed out yet. The Rights of the peasants or if they even have any or Law in general.
