Long Range Sniping - .50BMG vrs .408 Cheytak

The advantage of a .408 CheyTac round is it's ballistic coefficient -- it's long, slim, and heavy. It retains a high velocity far longer than the .50 BMG; at 1500 meters, it's still supersonic, while the .50 BMG's velocity has fallen below the speed of sound. It also has less of a drop at range than the .50 BMG. It doesn't, however, have quite the raw knockdown power of the .50 BMG, except at very long ranges.I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons...First We Take Manhattan, Jennifer Warnes
