        I buried my mother on Friday - it was a beautiful ceremony.

        And then yesterday my fiance gets a call - her ex-husband and father of their two children just died of a heart attack almost identical to what happened to my mother.

        I think I hate April.

              I sorta know how you feel, in 2006 my mother died the day after Thanksgiving, and Father the week before Christmas. We still had Christmas eve celebration as was normal for our family.. That's the way dad would of wanted it. It was his favorite holiday, and mine. It all turned out good in the end. Still miss them though. The world seems so empty with out them. I did not get to much time to grieve as I was the one to take care of most of the stuff that came afterwords. I think the hardest part of the whole thing was when mom passed having to go tell dad (I was with mom when she passed).

              My best advice is to take care of things and keep going on with life, yes the loss will never go away, but one kinda gets adapts to it. Love the ones you still have. As we all get older, it gets that time when more and more of those we have lived with or have got to know start to get old and pass on. Not only our family but icons of our generation and generations past. The World Changes, but life keeps grinding away at time.

              My father was a an alcoholic that had gone through the program and was sober for over 36 years before he passed on. We were not a church going family but we had faith in a higher power. The one prayer that dad had that always helps me was the

              The Serenity Prayer
              Path

              God grant me the serenity
              to accept the things I cannot change;
              courage to change the things I can;
              and wisdom to know the difference.

              Living one day at a time;
              Enjoying one moment at a time;
              Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
              Taking, as He did, this sinful world
              as it is, not as I would have it;
              Trusting that He will make all things right
              if I surrender to His Will;
              That I may be reasonably happy in this life
              and supremely happy with Him
              Forever in the next.
              Amen.

              The part in color is the part that i often had to repeat to myself when things got rough. It helped me get through the tough times as it did my father when his father and mother passed away. Kinda helped put things in perspective.

              Best of wishes and prayers for you and your family.

                  I'm very sorry for your loss, Cdnwolf. I know I'm a bit late but you will be in my prayers. About the same time last year, the same thing happened to my best friend (and one of my bosses at work) I've been hanging with since 5th grade. Again, I'll say a prayer for you and your friends and family.
