Well, it had to happen, these been some reports concerning some rather odd die offs of birds and fishes in Arkansas....and the local extreme right, holier than god, radio station down here in mississippi has annouched....drumroll please....that the end times are upon us!

That's the truth Web! Only for my works subsidised day care I honestly think it would have been cheaper for me to bin work completely. Working shifts and being able to (mostly) set my own rota helps too. And number two is due in 7 weeks or so :-D

I like to pick on the local survivalist radio station simply because of the utter mind rot that they spew out every day. You can almost say that they have overdosed on all of the luntical fringe publications predicting the end of the world in 2012. The sheer level of thier stupidity can only be matched by what they were broadcasting for Y2K...soooo, here is some of the highlights for 2011, so far...

(please, I don't like the man and didn't vote for him, but he does have a US birth certificate, case closed).

Another Sign of the Times

Once again I was perusing the various news sources to find the meaning of life. (So far, all I can determine is that Life is a bowl of cerial )

But here is a new twist on the hyper religious right

They are planning a boycott of the movie Thor when it is released later this year.

And not for the reasons you might think.

The Council of Conservitive Citizens is proposing the boycott because the actor Idris Elba has been hired to play Heimdall.

"The group claims Marvel is trying to give Norse mythology and legends a "multi-cultural remake" with "Thor" by re-inventing a god and black skin."

and even better....

"They also say "Marvel attacks conservative values and promotes the left wing." "

Ummmm......

This is a movie!!! About a COMIC BOOK CHARACTER!!!!! Thor is NOT real. He was believed to be a Norse god. That belief passed away about 800-900 years ago. No boycott because of the portrayal of a Mythical Norse God. These heathens at Marvel DARED to change the mythos.

I do not remember any outcry over Stargate, SG1 and the introduction of aliens who portrayed Egyptian Gods.

I consider myself a somewhat conservative, somewhat religious person. Will I watch Thor Probably. I see no difference between watching Thor or Superman.

I just thought you all might enjoy a good giggle!! I sure did.
