Hmmm... Maybe a forward base for TMP Atlantis Group

      Just my two cents.

        Mike,

        Sure, why not

Regarding T2K, is the UN even still in business I would imagine that the base and supplies would largely be appropriated by Italy. On the other hand, if Italy were to stay neutral then they would have a stake in preserving UN assets for some kind of future peace effort.

I don't believe there's any solid references to the UN in any of the books (could be in Armies of the Night though).
Personally, once the nukes started, and definitely after November 1997, I tend to think the UN is little more than an impotent shell - still some officials floating about trying to puff up their importance, but nobody takes any notice of them while they're focused on putting food on the table and shelter over their heads.
The UN offices in New York are probably destroyed, certainly not in use anyway except as perhaps shelter for the diehards.
If it moves, shoot it, if not push it, if it still doesn't move, use explosives.

That would depend on who would be guarding the base, private security guards or the UN Police.

I think you're pretty spot on with that.

I do seem to recall something I read that says that the UN General Assembly fell apart at some point but I can't recall which year it happened or where I read it. It could well have been in Armies of the Night - that would certainly be logical - although it might have been in the NATO vehicle guide (oddly enough!). It certainly has a plate of a Canadian vehicle in UN colours serving in a UN Peacekeeping force in (I think) Sri Lanka, so it might have been in the blurb for that plate.

The picture is of Kiowa Scout Helicopter and says Sir Lanka was the last UN Peacekeeping mission.

I personel think that most of the UN missions start to fall apart once war in Europe starts. I mean alot of European Powers have troops on missions as well as Canada, US and Russsia.

But who going to send troops for peacekeeping when you got a war on. Some smaller nations might still try and send a few troops, Australia and New Zealand might try to fill in on a few missions but I think they would under pressure to send troops to China or Korea.

The way I see it the UN failed to keep the war from starting, it peacekeeping missions are without any aid or material since there two large wars driving production and resources for them, and with smaller nations trying to fill the gaps there just ar'nt enough troops or aid.
