  • Sunrise and Sunset times

I've been meaning to post this link for a while, just in case people are interested in genuine Sunrise and Sunset times and haven't found this site:

When does the Sun and Moon rise and set today? Where are they in the sky during the day? When does twilight start and end? Enter your city and find out!

You can change the location and date that you want to know about (Warsaw is also included as well as Krakow for Poland).

    Hope people find it useful.

It is very useful. On a related note, I've mentioned in other threads that knowing the date and location you're at, and having some sort of almanac with sunrise and sunset times, would allow you to make accurate corrections to timekeeping devices which in turn is invaluable for navigation where dead reckoning is not possible (such as navigating at sea). Of course, the resetting of timepieces would have to be done while you're still at a known location, not at sea.

Hey, was that Indian Ocean to the North East or North West when you reset your time piece

          I use Weather Underground:

Weather Underground provides local & long-range weather forecasts, weather reports, maps & tropical weather conditions for locations worldwide

if you scroll down, you will find the 'almanac' section, which is really useful for matching historical weather with the date in question.

That's assuming that the weather hasn't changed from reality because of the damage to the environment.... <G>

Yeah, post-1997 TDM the weather in the T2K universe might start to change from what occurred IRL. Major earthquakes would still happen on schedule though. It's really hard for human actions to influence plate tectonics. Minor earthquakes could possibly be caused by mining activity etc.

VERY good point that. Nukes do tend to screw around with weather patterns and shown in Howling Wilderness.
If it moves, shoot it, if not push it, if it still doesn't move, use explosives.

Agreed, but I am lazy and don't want to create a weather system simulator

This is true, however the sunrise/sunset should not change, and you can use the acutal as a base line to change the weather to suit you. I use WU in my games to that effect. Helps to at least get a feel for a place you're not familiar with. Though I haven't used overseas locations, which (duhhhhhh) I didn't realize were there. FB

I agree. That's why I used HarnMaster's weather generation system. Works really well.
