On this Vets Day, I'm especially appreciative of my children. I'm making baby food in the food processor and doing yoga with my oldest (2.5 yr) instead of climbing into a bottle of whiskey. God bless the children we have protected.

As Simon says (sorry!) it's not a holiday here in the UK, but for us it's much more in tone like the US Memorial Day.
To put it in perspective, the BBC website has an article on "thankful villages"; the 52 villages in the UK (out of 16000) where no one was killed in World War I.
