  • OT: Hello from the front

Hey guys, I just got a message from Eric Hauser -goes by bigehauser here on the forums. He's deployed in Afghanistan and said to say hey to everyone here.

He was letting me know that he liked the first issue of the fanzine.

    Just passing that along.

Tell him howdy and to keep his head down and powder dry.

If he runs into a newly-minted buck sergeant named James Sumner (my nephew), tell him to say Hi. And tell him good luck. James is in his third tour, and he really makes Afghanistan sound like a shithole!

Paul, I have a nephew who's also flown in and out of Afghanistan several times, and the stories and pics he had to share....well, whatever your nephew's telling you is probably true. I just can't see why anyone would want to be there at all if they had the choice. Of course, I stress "if".

Grimace, thanks for the update. If you happen to be able to contact Bigehauser again anytime soon, let him know we're keeping him in our thoughts and to watch his ass out there.
"The use of force is always an answer to problems. Whether or not it's a satisfactory answer depends on a number of things, not least the personality of the person making the determination. Force isn't an attractive answer, though. I would not be true to myself or to the people I served with in 1970 if I did not make that realization clear."
