This blogger appears to be a certified chef and some sort of reenactor who combines his interests in a blog dedicated to recreating historical military ration dishes like WW1 British Meat & Veg stew.
Some of his posts, however, deal with the cooking side of things, including some discussions of cooking meals in British or German mess kits as well as a couple posts on improvised British field ovens that look like something straight out of your better appointed military cantonment or out behind a modern farm house trying to make do with lots of manual laborers and no electric, natural gas, or other energy to run a modern kitchen.

Seems like some nice ideas for detailing or fleshing out descriptions of that segment of life in T2K (which should probably be a pretty central aspect and motivator for PCs).
