  • Rule differences

    Hi all,

This is my first time actually posting here after lurking on and off for a few years.
I recently acquired the (legit, from RPG Now) Twilight 2000 V2.2 bundle, after many years of missing my ("lost") physical copy of V2.0. I remember back in the day running the game and loving it, and I now finally have the chance to do so again.

However, as I look through the book, some things seem to have changed (no shock, its an updated version). Could someone confirm for me: are the rules governing skill resolution the same in V2.2 as V2.0 They seem to be but it could be the fact I didn't read/run them right when I was kid so my memory might no mean a lot.

    Thanks in advance

Off the top of my head: Yes, and no.

The target-number side of the task-resolution system is the same: skill + stat, multiplied by something based on difficulty.

The die-roll side is different: use d20 instead of d10, roll under the target number.

The only other changes I can recall between the two are some of the careers were modified, and the number of skills earned per non-first term is fixed.

I've been running for years with a v2.0 Big Yellow Book, the "v2.1" modifications that came with the referee's screen, and a photocopy of the altered careers, while at least one of my players had the v2.2 book, in case we needed it.
My Twilight claim to fame: I ran "Allegheny Uprising" at Allegheny College, spring of 1988.

      Thanks very much

I have now finished my read through of the V2.2 rulebook and it looks like I have sparked an interest from my player group so it looks like I should be able to get a game off the ground in the near future which puts a smile on my face!
