If you've never played the Wargame series of PC games I highly recommend them. The second of the series, Wargame: Airland Battle has a full campaign based on able archer being the flashpoint of WWIII.

Later there is even a campaign that is very Twilight-esque where limited nuclear exchange has occurred and you command a hodge-podge regiment of warsaw pact survivors determined to start a new state.
