I'm much better prepared for the zombie apocalypse; a .303" for long distance, a suppressed .22LR for closer, and an axe for last ditch. Plus, I have a mountain bike for silent escapes, if they catch me a home my stairs are too steep for the undead to cope with, and I know what shops to loot for survival gear...I laugh in the face of danger. Then I hide until it goes away.

I would have more if I didn't shoot as much as I do, and I would have less if I could shoot as much as I would like too.
I figure if the situation needs more than 10 shots, I'm in over my head, and I'll be long gone. I have a friend who belongs to the "have more longarms than I can carry" school, and I can offer to help hold some of those for him.... I'll be heading for his bunker, er, house. My Twilight claim to fame: I ran "Allegheny Uprising" at Allegheny College, spring of 1988.

Umm, they even did the internal parts
I knew the M16 and it's variants were only intended for girly men, but that's just taking it too far!
If it moves, shoot it, if not push it, if it still doesn't move, use explosives.
Nothing happens in isolation - it's called "the butterfly effect"

panther i have only one question.
WHY would you want an AC556 have you ever seen the A-team that gun has gotta be the least accurate weapon ever. special forces munchkins can't even hit the broad side of a barn with it from the inside.the best course of action when all is against you is to slow down and think critically about the situation. this way you are not blindly rushing into an ambush and your mind is doing something useful rather than getting you killed.

I was recently listening to a broadcast of the "Glen Beck Show". I am not going to discuss the pro's and con's of his particular political views.
One of his advertisers was Food Insurance. I read some about them. They provide freeze dried foods for survival.
Here comes the questions:
Freeze Dried vs. M.R.E's
Which would YOU buy Why Have you already bought
So far my "stash" of survival food has been things like soups and stews that can be eaten straight from the can without heating. Granted, warm soup or stew would REALLY taste good during a survival situation...However you might not want the neighbors to know you have food, water, fire, etc....
I am interested in reading what you have to write... I am looking to expand my "stash" for longer term survival.
My $0.02

Having said all of the above, it is also not a bad idea to very your selection (some Mountain Home items for example), a few canisters of long-term storage wheat or rice, powdered eggs, perhaps a few pounds of jerky and dried fruit, soup mixes (perhaps even ole Raman noodles for that brown, salty water taste), one of the drawbacks of any military ration is that after a few weeks, you become very familiar with every menu item (often quoting them in your sleep), so any change would be welcome.
Living in hurricane country (and having been raised in a Mormon household), not to mention being a vet; I've always maintained a stock of emergency food supplies; a dozen cases of military MREs; three cases of civilian MREs (left overs from Katrina); 5lb canisters of wheat, rice, dried fruit;about 40lbs of jerky in vacuum bags; not to mention canned foodstuffs (every time my wife swings by Sam's Club, she buys another case or three), all told, its enough to keep five people alive for about six months.
Hope this helps! The reason that the American Army does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the American Army practices chaos on a daily basis.
