  • US Strategic Stockpile locations

I've come up with a map of possible strategic stockpile locations in the US, building on the list presented in Allegheny Uprising.

Some are abandoned railroad or highway tunnels, caves that offer tours, existing or former military depots, strategic petroleum reserve locations (and proposed locations that were not used), dry mines or commercial underground storage sites.

An extract of a database I've been working on that currently has over 15,000 potential nuclear targets on it... still a work in progress.

    Enjoy!!!
I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

    And another extract...

the ICBM silos and associated facilities of the US and USSR:

Thanks, Chico! This will help not just with T2K, but also the Red Dawn timeline.

Great resource! Any chance you could make this global and allow for other facilities to be added I know of a few locations in the UK that could certainly be added.

            Thanks!

I've updated the stockpile map to add in Romania's state reserves and some massive salt mines... a bit obscure but one I'm pretty certain is complete...

Other requests Powerplants of the combatant nations Air bases refineries I'm fairly confident that I have complete lists of those for both the Pact and Western/NATO nations plus some neutrals (Japan, Taiwan, Sweden).

Silent Hunter UK check you PMs.

              nice work.

Anyone thought of using abandoned bank vaults after TDM to stockpile supplies

Checked my PMs and replied. Also might be an idea to add key rail infrastructure sites; those would definitely be targets.

As for the UK, obvious places would be the various nuclear bunkers, some of which Campbell may have missed, USAF bases and research facilities like Aldermaston, Porton Down etc.

Indeed. Really good work - tonnes of story hooks in that.

You mean, like the rail manufacturing plant about 2 miles from me--one of only three in the _entire Western Hemisphere_ that currently produces railway rails
Why do I feel like there's a target painted on my house

The steel plant in Pueblo Colorado ... right beside I-25 produces steel rail and reheats and rolls old rail into new.

Here's what I have for steel mills of the combatant nations...

Germany is incomplete, as are some other European countries. There are also a half dozen or so Chinese mills I haven't located. Let me know if there are others I missed that were open in 1997.

                          Thanks!!!

Chico, how about air bases Those would be nice to have-and not every base would be hit once the nukes fly.

                              Matt,

Here's the USSR and its allies plus Iran and China. No time to pull the rest of NATO together tonight! The icons delineate what the base's primary mission is - nuclear bomber capable (ie history of operating bombers or variants thereof from there), interceptor, transport or tactical aviation. Non-Soviet Warsaw Pact and all Chinese bases are not delineated. These are airfields with a military role; civil airports that did not have a military role in peacetime (or in plans that I could locate), with the exception of Iran, are not listed. (I list all Iranian airfields above a minimum size since the air war there lasts longer than the rest of the world).

                              Enjoy!
