Loren Wiseman has passed

Hello all,
I just heard via Ken Burnside of Ad Astra Games (who knew Loren well) that Loren passed away this past weekend. I know what he meant to GDW, our favorite game, and all that came with it.

Loren's imagination and his development of Twilight 2000 and 2300AD were very influential on me as a teenager and into my early 20's. So much so that even today I still love everything about both of these games. He was only 65 when he passed, a great loss.

Really going to miss this guy.

I cant really think of what to say, other than it had to happen at some point.
Still, he was 65 That's a bit young for it. Another two or three decades seems more right.

I heard this while I was at a convention dedicated to monster wargames. While we were not playing any GDW titles this year, the group formed 20 years ago to play the Europa series.

Sad news, my condolences to his family, and prayers for him.

I met him once when I visited what passed for GDW in Bloomington. Just drove up there on a lark, introduced myself, and he and his people (including one female) grilled me on the military, the psychology of the military, one gun vs another, how different firearms shoot (and they thought it great that I could shoot a Dragon). I did try to tell him about shooting TOWs over water...

He struck me as one of those people with boundless energy, asked more questions than anyone else there, and recorded the entire discussion and questions and answers.

I asked what they were doing, and he causally motioned to a large table with a world map on it. Did I possibly see the Great Game in progress He didn't describe it much.
