I do love the "proto-autos" in all their steam punkish splendour.
In real life I have to admit - I see why the wars back in the day took so many years even thoug the enemy was in plain sight 90 % of the time .The early automatics are like a puzzle with 23 finicky metal pieces that all must fit together just so- or it is all ruined.Now,doing that at night in a muddy trench while rounds impact around you and a human wave attack is rapidly closing on your position seems a bit akward .
A Glock has 4 parts when field stripped- even if you never saw one before you could sort of get it back together in a hurry if you had to .Comment

One of the most powerful pistols in the world, and great for P/A characters, as you can reload ammo from cut-down 7.62 Nato barss and .44 revolver bullets. It's finicky about it's ammo, and you need to keep your magazines in good shape, though.
But it's just so damned SEXY. Clint Eastwood used one in Sudden Impact, and Birgitte Nielson used one in Beverly Hills Cop 2. Mack Bolan used one for over 100 novels.Comment
