Military policies forbid deployed soldiers " even married personnel " from having romantic or sexual relations while overseas.
Wow. Just wow. If the US military had a policy like that, probably 90% of personnel would be in a military prison. Damn I'd be pissed if I got 40 years for..."associating"...with one of the many Marine Blankets I met whilst aboard ship.

The US does have a policy like that. If married service members end up on the same FOB together, the may not engage in sexual relations. The other soldiers might get jealous. I'm not kidding. It's a good thing we have some of the most advanced weapons in the world, because our attitudes about sex are straight out of Victorian England.

Hm. Never heard of that. I knew one or two couples that were both in the military, but were on different ships or in different commands, or one was Corps and the other squid, that kind of thing.

I must've mistook what that said, because I was thinking *anyone* could get busted for having sex overseas. Which would really have taken the fun out of places like Thailand and the Middle East for some, and Bali and Australia for pretty much everyone.

Relationships between two conscripts or a conscript and a career soldier are not unheard of in Finland, though I believe the official rules frown upon this, especially due to the fact, the law makes it a bit hazardous to the other party, if he/she happens to be of higher rank - the criminal law considers it borderlining a rape if a superior has sex with his/her subordinate...

p.s. I actually dated a navy officer a couple of times when I was younger - good looking, but I suppose we enlisted can't really fraternize with officers in that way...
"Listen to me, nugget, and listen good. Don't go poppin' your head out like that, unless you want it shot off. And if you do get it shot off, make sure you're dead, because if you ain't, guess who's gotta drag your sorry ass off the field? Were short on everything, so the only painkiller I have comes in 9mm doses. Now get the hell out of my foxhole!" - an unknown medic somewhere, 2013.

I'm glad I started this thread. For a long time, I've felt that this community needed a place to discuss romantic/sexual relationships and gender politics in a military context. I feel good about providing just such a place here on this forum.

Yep, fictional countries and sex. I can see the connection.
