Detachment Mike-757th Railway Expedtionary Center
Originally built in 1940, Number 1692 served at Fort Belvoir for many years before being disposed of through DRMO shortly before the outbreak of the Twilight War.
The switcher (600 hp) was discovered abandoned in Southern Arkansas by State Defense Force members who subsequently contacted elements of the 197th INF and 194th ARM BGD's.
A small detachment of the surviving rail personnel from the 47th ID as part of Operation Egret subsequently reclaimed and returned the locomotive to Operation.
This photo was taken sometime ca. 2005-notice the precious fuel oil drums courtesy of the Illinois refineries. The crew refuels by hand from drums and the switcher (which sips fuel) has a limited consist of open top hopper cars.
